We're back, after four long boring ass months we're back with our in depth coverage of the NHL. Starting with our extended coverage of the 08 trade deadline. So far there has been no trades worth mentioning (Corey Stillman is no big deal) and this is because most general managers are pussy! Most teams just want to make the playoffs and make more money! We as fans cannot accept this and should demand teams do everything they can to win the cup! This is a message to all six Canadian teams to get off thier asses and do something. Quit making excuses and start making trades! Anyone in the league can be traded, if it can happen to Gretzky it can happen to Sundin. Stop making weak ass excuses and start making trades! We'll be all over this shit and check the NHL Feeds to get up to date info on the entire Hockey World! |

The number one problem I am having with the new NHL right now is guys fighting with thier visors on. There is nothing more cowardley than scrapping with a visor on. This year fighting is up drastically, that is good. But some players are starting fights then kepping thier visor on.
I don't care who you are if you fight with a visor you should get an extra 2 minutes for being stupid. I hate when some punk with a visor challenges a guy without a visor then acts like its a fair fight. Every player should have atleast one scrap a year, no matter how much money you make. If you have a visor take it off or your just a bitch!! |

I watched the Canucks the other night (against Edmonton) and was underwhelmed. I think that Nonis has painted himself into a corner by concentrating on using a few marquee players at the expense of the team. A lot of the players (Burrows, Cowan....) are making the bare minimum ($475,000/year etc). Anyone with a two way contract will always be sent to the minors before the minimum game plateau is reached at the NHL level.
The Canucks have a new owner who is trying to re-coup a large investment. I think that the management will be pressed to eliminate spending on bonus points; this leads to the same demoralized product that existed when Pavel Bure, Mogilny and friends "couldn't wait" to get out of Vancouver after the strike. I remember when Pavel had purchased a home on Marine Drive in Vancouver just after he came to the Canucks. He was supposed to receive a $5 million signing bonus but Arthur Griffiths Jr. refused to pay it. Pavel ended up having to sell his furniture to make ends meet during the strike. He couldn't pay his bills and was being chased for money by everyone.
This is the Vancouver management mentality. It is going to ruin the Canucks for a long time. Naslund, the Sedins, Ohlund, (even Morrison) will all be leaving when contracts expire unless a better quality of owner appears on the scene. |

It was unanimous amongst TSN's hockey experts, after losing 7 - 1 to the Hurricanes, Leafs were going to miss the playoffs. One by one the all said how bad the Leafs were and how they needed drastic changes to right the ship. Glen Healey looked like he was gonna cry! Bob McKenzie went home and ate three tubs of ice cream! James Duthie was placed on suicide watch.
It was over for the Leafs, atleast in thier minds. The had lost so bad that the whole year was in jeopardy. They all talked about how Toronto missed the playoffs last year by one point. This game was this years one point in thier minds. Fire Freguson, trade Sundin, send Kubina to the minors, tell Maurice to take a hike! The experts had all the answers. Then two nights later the Maple Leafs crush the Islanders 8 - 1. The smiles returned to the Hockey Central crew. Healey acted like he knew this was gonna happen, McKenzie put down his spoon, and Duthie felt like he could live again. The point of the matter is that the TSN broadcasters need to realize that they are not on "The View" and keep thier emotions in check. The Leafs will lose games this year, sometimes even get blown out, thats no reason to spend twenty minutes crying on national television. No team is out of it in October, well maybe Phoenix. No Canadian team is out of it in October. Its a long season TSN broadcasting team so your gonna have to learn how to accept the fact the Leafs are going to lose games. Take a deep breathe and remember, no one likes a poor sport. And no one likes four of them crying to each other on national TV. The Leafs are Not Axel Rose, they have a decent chance of doing something good in the next year! |
