If the NHL could of wrote a script of how Sidney Crosby would develop after the lockout, it would have probably been half as good as what he actually accomplished.  The story of a ninteen year old dominating a league is the stuff of movies.  Stories like these save leagues from obscurity and bring them to the forefront of the sporting world.  And while Canada has watched this kid become an Icon in America there is nothing.

The reason why Sid is not a star in the states is because he has not been marketed at all.  Both Versus and NBC completley dropped the ball.  Versus tried to market him but unfortunatley no one watches Versus.  NBC could care less about the NHL than they do about "The Dew Action Sports Series" (Usually on before or after NHL hockey).  Betman turned down working with ESPN to be a renegade and take the NHL to different networks where it would be more of a primetime show.  Once again Gary screwed up.

If the NHL had stayed will ESPN the hype behind Sidney Crosbey would be insane right now.  Look at how well they marketed Beckham and no one even likes soccer.  ESPN offered the NHL no money for thier games but atleast the would be able to reach the entire U.S. market. 

With the entire U.S.A watching the Crosby show who knows? The NHL could become the tenth biggest sports league in the U.S........ Nah probably not, Gary won't let that happen.
